Tennessee Flag And The Flag Company Inc

By Jonathan Spike

Tennessee became the 16th state of the union in 1796. It is just 112 miles wide, but stretches 432 miles from the Appalachian Mountains boundary with North Carolina in the east to the Mississippi River borders with Missouri and Arkansas in the west.

The Tennessee Flag has a field of crimson red and a blue circle in its center bordered in white.Within the circle, there are 3 white stars, each provided with 5 points. There is a narrow vertical stripe of blue on the flag's left side and another thin white line on the inner side.

The 16 signified the fact of Tennessee being the sixteenth state to enter the Union. In 1861, with the Civil War approaching, a flag was proposed that was similar to the first Confederate flag but with the Tennessee seal on it. In 1905, the state flag design was created by LeRoy Reeves, a member of the Tennessee National Guard. This is the same design used today!

The Tennessee state flag contains a blue circle in the very center of the flag which holds three white stars and outlined in white against a bold red background. There is also a strip of blue on the fly of the flag.

The colours correspond to those in the Stars and Stripes and the Stars and Bars. Tennessee and neighbouring Arkansas are the only states to have red backgrounds for their flags.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Tennessee flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc specialized in flag designs offered a special edition of decals and flags to memorize the history of Tennessee flag for the future.
