The Inherent Dangers Of None Dare Call It Treason Trump

By Peter Long

Trump taking office has definitely created a divided country. His politics are controversial to say the least, but even those within his party are adverse to many of his comments and actions. He lacks experience, the ability to be diplomatic in foreign relations, and some might even say couth. But the dangers of none dare call it treason Trump are actually far greater than these.

When patriots forget important events and ideas, the public is in serious danger. This is definitely the case when it comes to defining the role and responsibilities of the Commander in Chief. Even though Trump wooed his constituents with promises of creating a better economy, his real job is actually protecting the US Constitution and upholding all of its articles.

This is a document that was believed to be all-inclusive and perfect from its inception. As such, it was not intended to be modified or amended on any radical or regular basis. Because times have certain changed over the centuries along with demographics, social needs, and the pervasiveness of technology, however, some changes have definitely been warranted. When these amendments are not publicly understood, known or approved, however, problems will invariably occur, whether now or in the future. These changes have the potential to eradicate freedoms that the American public have long enjoyed.

One thing that many patriots appear to have forgotten is that this is a government by the people and for the people. It is not a system that tolerates overlords and dictators. By his very personality, this appears to be what Trump would like to function as if allowed.

There are also checks and balances that are suffering as the course of his presidency and the general complacency of the American public. This is all the more true of the Fourth Estate, which is both hard to define and ubiquitous. This legislative branch is represented by the journalists that cater to the public's general right to know.

Most news readers are far more interested in the lives and times of the Kardashians than they are in actual reporting. As such, ethical reporters are finding it harder to access audiences who actually want to hear the news that they need. A number of media outlets are now known for their puff pieces, entertainment articles and reporting that goes contrary to all the laws of critical though. More importantly, there is a hidden agenda that these opinion shapers often seem to share.

Lacking the fourth estate, democracy cannot lasts. Voters are becoming increasingly ignorant to all that goes on behind the scenes, even though it is certain to affect them. This decrease in actual reporting as made the Constitution very vulnerable. Luckily, citizen journalists have risen up to share the news for those who would actually read it.

You may be wondering where treason comes in. A failure on the part of the President to make upholding the Constitution his primary duty is actually treason in itself. Sadly, however, this is an error that has been made by the last four Presidents before Trump. In this age, the glaring personality of a veritable showman, however, is making this lack of constitutional regard even more dangerous than ever.
