When you check out a top-ranked site, you will never see an ugly site inundated with tons of keywords and links. The best sites out there are legitimate businesses whose usage of keywords is so that their customers can find them, not so search engines force them in everyone's face.

Spend some time becoming an authority on your industry. Write a blog, visit other related blogs and leave comments, answer questions on helps websites and find forums that you can join and participate in. Any time you can put your name, your company's name and your expertise out there, it will enhance your reputation on the web as an expert in your field.

Look at pay-per-click advertisement programs to increase your website visibility. These programs, like Google Adwords, bring your website up to the top of the list whenever people search for something that relates to your site. This gives you a lot more visibility and a lot more traffic. Advertising is never a bad idea.

Image is everything. When selling something, your photographs need to be of professional quality. No matter how great your product is, people will not be interested if you have amateur-looking photographs. Remember that when shopping online, a person can only go by the picture as a representation of the product, so it needs to be top quality.

Talk to marketing companies. If may seem counter-intuitive since you are their competition, but some marketing companies are willing to bounce new ideas off other marketers, to see what new ideas are out there. If you are willing to share with them, they may be willing to share with you.

Use a simple URL for your business website to achieve Internet marketing success. You do not want a long complicated name for your site. People need something that is easy to remember so they can find you again. Even if they cannot remember the exact domain name, they will search for the main keywords they can remember. Make sure those words are a part of your URL.

When someone signs up for your emails, let them know right away what to expect. Send them an email confirming their subscription and let them know what to expect in each email and how often to expect email. This is also a good time to give them a chance to back out if they signed up by accident or aren't interested any more,

Even though you might be running a business that is totally online-based, do not overlook the traditional ways of marketing. Things like conventions in your industry provide a great venue for marketing your online business and to meet others in your field. You can get a lot of leads by participating in trade conventions.

Become the industry expert. Your customers will thank you, and your competition will envy you.

Always make sure to put a description of the site right at the top of the page. There is no way that a user will be interested in buying anything from your site if they cannot look at the page and figure out what it is that you are selling.
