Vital Information On Advocate For Special Education

An advocate is a person who is practically skilled in legally representing clients in courts and offering them legal advice. He or she works with clients to ensure that their rights are exercised and their voice is heard. An advocate for special Education can also be defined with nouns such as a defender, spokesperson, lawyer, justifier, interceder and adviser.

A good advocate has to possess a number of very important qualities. Firstly, they need to be objective in his line of duty, he or she should be able to offer independent and sound judgement, he should basically be patience and also persistent, he should also be understanding and be effective in his communication, should be knowledgeable with the case, client and the laws governing the scenario, should try to be ethical and respectful to his clients and should be assertive.

For a child to be in the exceptional learning program he or she should be as young as three years old and as old as twenty one years old, the child should also have an identified disability, the impairment must affect the child education and social performance and the child must also require a special instructional program.

Some of the impairments commonly handled are physical impairment. This includes blindness, hearing difficulties, brain injury and other physical health impairments. Communication impairment includes articulation, voice, fluency and phonology emotional impairment which majorly affects the child ability to relate with his or her peers and learning impairment.

Other categories include multiple disabilities are those disabilities that are related such as intellectual disability and blindness or intellectual disability and orthopedic impairment. Development delay which is designed for children within nine years of age. It deals with delay in behavioral, socio-emotional, physical and even cognitive development. This programs should be tailored in such a way they will give more attention to the kids or person with intellectual disability.

A good advocate is understanding of the client situation, is ethically while performing his role, is hardworking and ensures that he has done more than enough on the client and his childs background, has enough knowledge on the laws that govern the s educational program, is assertive, is trustworthy and honest, he maintains the code of confidentiality and refrains from abusive conduct and illegal means of practice.

Hiring such an expert for your child is important since he offers legal advice on the laws that guide the program, he reviews with the parents the child IEP and he assists the clients in understanding the rights of their child.

An advocate for exceptional education is experienced in handling the issues of the child with the disabilities and thus ensures that the interest and needs of the child are met. The specialized education programs require the students to have an IEP that provides the teachers in the program with particular instructions and important information on the childs background that the teacher needs when handling the students in class.
