The Perks Of Li Fi Technology Products

By Melissa Young

Li-Fi stands for light fidelity and has revolutionized the speed at which wireless communication travels. So say goodbye to Wi-Fi and hello to li fi technology products. The light fidelity technology arose from the brainchild of a University lecturer Harald Haas who has certainly made his mark in the way communication technology works. We must remember though that despite the thought and planning from Haas, a past inventor Alexander Graham Bell was one who invented the photophone which transmitted talking via flickers of sunlight. It is upon a similar basis that the li-fi technology was based.

We all familiar with Wi-Fi which generally works by using radio waves to change data into content but in the case of that system, light waves are used instead of radio waves. For the light fidelity system to work, the data had to be converted using light signals. Light waves work because the LED light bulb works as a semiconductor allowing for a constant flow of electricity supplied to the LED bulb can be dimmed at very high speeds. The thing about LED bulbs is that unlike other halogens and light bulbs, these LED bulbs have no warm up time and can be switched on rather quickly. Quickly enough to not even be noticed by the naked eye.

The light fidelity hype is spreading like wildfire. Not only have the United Kingdom brands and companies developed an interest in this technology but other countries too. Dubai in the UAE is known to be one emirate that is testing those systems. French investment firms are also buying into the trend by promising to get their staff connected to the internet by only using light fidelity systems.

Light fidelity is known to be speedier than the common Wi-Fi. Believe it or not, li-fi is said to have a 224-gigabytes speed rate per second making it undeniably fast. Truth be told we cannot base our move to the li-fi system entirely on the speed of download. One needs to be solid in their belief that li-fi is the best way to advance forward.

The fact that connectivity entirely depends on harnessing light waves, a lack of proper lighting means no connectivity. This means that to ensure proper connectivity light bulbs must remain present and constantly switched on. The light bulbs constantly being switched on ideal is highly impossible and thus at times, the light fidelity system may not work.

A perk of using this system is that it is highly beneficial especially in areas which cannot catch radio frequency easily. In these specific areas, it is ideal to depend on light frequency entirely.

The theorem behind which li-fi was created entails the idea that with li-fi the possibilities are unlimited. This means that where ever there happens to be LED lighting, there happens to be connectivity and data. The li-fi system is based upon the idea that it will extend wireless connections far beyond its current reach. This system seeks to establish safe connections even in environments you cannot even begin to imagine.

Like with Wi-Fi, Li-Fi too has its fair share of advantages and disadvantages. However, one cannot help but take their hat off to the brains behind the creation of light fidelity- Harald Haas. The professor did certainly consider connections in even the most hostile of environments. Needless to say, he took the idea of a secure connection to an entirely new level.
